The program is a mixed use commercial development includes 35,000 SM of new retail and 25,000 SM of returning tenants currently in the existing structures on the site. Our approach was to design the site to increase value, introduce new opportunities with a pragmatic and flexible planning that was focused on the experience of a village center within the larger city context was a key to its success.
TM Design’s strategy was to first develop a deep understanding of the culture and history of the city and site, with this foundation we connected traditional Ningbo architecture and New contemporary Chinese style to promote a concept of “Old meets New” and “ East meets West”.
One another important strategy is to design memorable “WOW” factors throughout the site focused on eight (8) featured spaces, including “Courtyard”, “Sky Walk”, “Central Plaza” and “Dongdahe Dock” to linked all spaces and attract pedestrian movement and social activity throughout the entire site.
An emphasis on connecting this development to this special environment located along the Dongdahe River with views of the surrounding hills with bridge connections to the surrounding context crates an urbanism that activates the entire district.
